Wedding earrings

Hey all.
We thought we'd share some pictures of the latest pair of earrings that we created for our wedding on January the 7th :) They are made using white gold, diamonds and a beautiful pair of faceted green onyx drops. It was was a little bit difficult to capture the vivid green colour of these earrings. Anyway, we hope you love these babies...

Australia Day...

Yes we will be doing the typical Aussie thing this Australia Day....except eating lamb and drinking copious amounts of beer we'll be having a BBQ/picnic down on the beautiful Cronulla beach with some of the family while counting the endless number of Australian flags plastered everywhere from fake tattoo's on people's limbs and faces, towels, hand held flags and normal flags that people have decided to make other uses for eg wearing them on their heads, as capes or instead of pants..... Gotta love the Aussie spirit!

Other than this we will be listing a very awesome new necklace of ours that we hope you're going to love....

So here we are.......It's 2010 and we are pretty psyked to be releasing some new pieces this week :) We will also be adding a few images from a couple of photoshoots that we are preparing in the next couple of months too. We're hoping to be adding more items to our mens range also which will keep the boys happy :)

We have noticed a large number of our Etsy buyers are from our city in Sydney of late. We are wondering how people have been finding out about etsy as we haven't seen it advertised all that much. We did notice an advertisement in the free and very popular sydney newspaper Mx although they spelt it ESTY and not ETSY.... oops I'm sure the clever Sydney siders figured it out! Anyway we are very happy to see that all the peeps in Sydney have jumped on the Etsy band wagon finally! Now they can enjoy checking out all of the amazing artists in the world as much as we do!!

Not much has been happening lately other than working, creating and designing so I thought I'd just upload a couple of images today of the sweet little opening and closing pair of sterling silver scissors that we created. It's always funny when you turn something ordinary into a small object. It is definitely the cutest pair of scissors I've ever seen! I can't imagine walking around with any ordinary pair of scissors around my neck myself, but I suppose that is part of the mystery and obsession of people wearing micro versions of big, ordinary things! Humans are strange creatures aren't they?

Yes we have pulled out the big guns with the chunky Emerald cut "Excess Ring" below. Not for the faint hearted and possibly not everyone's idea of an everyday ring that's for sure!

We have been adding more and more pieces every week to our collection which has been tough but very rewarding. Our Facebook Fan Page is doing so so well and we have already 83 fans which is pretty amazing!

Firstly, how amazing is this table design of Alexandra Von Furstenburg! It will only set you back $15,000...Plus you need the style of house to put in in a suppose. personally I can't imagine this in our living room but nevertheless it is an amazing piece of furniture!

Secondly, We have been away from here for over a week but we have a good reason again! We've been adding a fair few new items to our Etsy shop!

below are a couple of images of two of the many pieces we have come up with. I know, they seem to contradict one another don't they? The hard, sharp, toughness of the Buster ring and the lovingly, soft, flowing and intricate heart design of the Beloved Necklace would make you wonder if we had in fact created both, but yes, they were both our doing :)

We will be introducing a very substantial ring to our collection in the next week or so and we are thinking of creating a range of pieces in bronze so stay tuned for that!

Also I was browsing on Etsy (as per usual) and I discovered an artist and seller named 9livesphotography who sells photography of shelter cats and sells them here on Etsy with all proceeds (minus etsy fees and paypal fees) going to the shelter. Check it out if you have time and if you are keen to support them . I'm sure the faces of these furry litte monsters will make you go awww!

Update on things..

Well as usual we've been our busy selves. We have been adding things gradually to our Artfire shop but will no sales as yet. we've been trying to be patient with Artfire as I think that it has a lot of potential and it may just be a matter of time until it becomes a site similar to Etsy. The features on the site are awesome and it really gives you a lot more freedom to customise your shop to your own liking. not to mention $12 US for a month of unlimited listing is a pretty good deal!

Anyway other than this we have been keeping ourselves busy with trade work and designing a few new pieces here and there. I thought I'd add a pic of something that I completed most recently working for my employer. It is a platinum and diamond tennis bracelet. It took a whole week from start to finish so you can imagine how happy I was to see it finally completed!

last week I was carving out a wax ring for an awesome hexagon shaped onyx stone. It's almost done so we should be listing that baby soon :D

We have decided to incorporate some more precious metals and gemstones in our work...the funds have been stopping us doing this so far but we are working one piece at a time...!

Bruno bought me a beautiful pair of long green onyx briolettes that look like emeralds and I am very excited to make something for myself with those babies! I will be uploading pics of them when they are done :)

Firstly I would just like to mention that today it is Bruno's birthday :) We've been spending the weekend celebrating with family and friends around the place, eating and drinking too much but it has been fun :)

I am very pleased to say that I set up my bench right next to Bruno's..this means I'll be able to design and make more of the things that i love! (and i get to spend a couple of more days working with my beloved :)

So far things are going smoothly! So we are pretty content .... :)

The site offers many customising options which I really like. It's nice to have a little more control over the way your little corners of the internet look. We'll have to see if it will be as successful as our little Etsy store! fingers crossed!!

Other news is that we will be listing a new range of stacking rings in the coming weeks and we are hoping to invest and create some more gold pieces too!

I have just gone part time at my work which will allow me some more time to design and create a couple of full days in the week (yay) and I also get to do this working alongside my beloved (awwww!!) So I am very excited :) Wish me luck!!

Ok, so our few weeks of absolute craziness have come to a halt and we've now been able to enjoy a proper weekend!

Bruno finished the back scratcher and it looks beautiful as you can see from the pics!!

The raw looking silver elements are what the metal looks like after the casting of the wax is made. From this stage each piece is burnished, filed, cut soldered, saw pierced and sand blasted to to make it look as good as it does now. It's a long, long process and with something so big, solid and heavy this process just takes longer and longer..Not to mention the number of tests to see if it passes the scratch test!

The handle was made by Bruno also using Oak that he stained also.

Oh..and yes...the client was a very happy girl! Now we just have to wait and see what her soon to be husband thinks about his new flashy silver back scratcher :)

Bruno has been busy in the workshop making up this wax for a custom sterling silver back scratcher. The client is a friend of ours and is giving this to her soon to be husband as their wedding gift. So far the the progress is looking good. We'll post more pictures as the job progresses!

This image was taken one evening when we chased a storm from one end of the city to the other trying to capture photographs of lightening.
